Be creative

Welcome to Be Creative — my little corner of fun, colour, and “I wonder if this could help?” ideas!

Here’s where I share things I’ve designed to make the fostering journey a little easier (and a lot more creative). You’ll find worksheets, emotion cards, food cards, and all sorts of printable goodies made with love, experience, and maybe a few too many cups of tea. ☕

These tools are designed to spark conversations, make tricky topics easier to explore, and help carers and young people connect in a way that feels natural — and maybe even a bit playful.

So, dive in, have a look around, and see what catches your eye. Because sometimes a splash of colour, a silly idea, or a creative little card can make all the difference. 💛

Food prompt cards

Being a kid in care isn’t always easy — especially when it comes to things like food. Sometimes it’s hard to find the words to say what you like (or don’t like!), and that can make mealtimes a bit tricky.

That’s where my Food Prompt Cards come in! These colourful, visual cards help young people show their food preferences without the pressure of having to explain everything. They’re fun, simple, and a great way to turn “What do you want to eat?” into something calm, clear, and even a little bit playful.

Whether you’re planning meals together, trying new foods, or just helping a young person feel heard, these cards make food time easier — and a lot more fun. 🍕🥦🍓

Emotiona cards

Feelings can be big, confusing, and sometimes really hard to explain — especially for kids in care who might have a lot going on inside. That’s why I created these Emotion Cards — a simple, visual way to help children understand and express how they’re feeling.

Each card represents a different emotion, using words and pictures to make tricky feelings easier to spot, talk about, and manage. They’re perfect for carers, social workers, and anyone who wants to help a young person open up — without the pressure of finding the “right” words.

These cards turn those “I don’t know how I feel” moments into conversations, connections, and sometimes even giggles. Because when kids can name their feelings, they can start to understand them — and that’s where real healing begins. 💛

Worksheets

Here you’ll find a growing collection of worksheets for all sorts of things — from “About Me” sheets to fun puzzles and activities designed to spark conversation, build confidence, and make learning about emotions and life in care a little more fun.

Whether you’re a carer, social worker, or young person, there’s something here for everyone — and I’m always adding new ones! So keep checking back, because this space gets updated every week with fresh ideas, creative tools, and maybe the occasional surprise. 😉

Because sometimes a simple worksheet can open up a big conversation — and that’s exactly what these are made for. 💛

What if boxes

Kids in care — and kids in general — often have lots of “what if…” questions spinning around in their heads.

What if I move again?

What if people don’t like me?

What if I miss my family?

What if a spider eats me in my sleep?

Sometimes those thoughts can feel too big or scary to talk about — and that’s where the “What If” Box comes in.

It’s a simple idea with a big purpose: a safe little box where children can pop in their worries, questions, or thoughts whenever they need to. Later, carers or adults can gently open the box and talk through those “what ifs” together.

It’s a lovely way to help kids feel heard and supported, even when they don’t have the words yet — and it can turn quiet worries into open, calm conversations.
